Inbr: F70 (A). Black and tan. Genet: at . Origin: G. Bonser (Leeds) 1932-1936 by selection for formation of a `wart' after tar application.


Characteristics

Now more susceptible than five other strains (including BALB/c and CBA) to tar, methylcholanthrene and 3,4-benzpyrene. No spontaneous mammary tumours (Bonser, 1938). Susceptible to induction of brain tumours by N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea (Searle and Jones, 1972). High incidence of spontaneous pseudopregnancy. Maint. by A.
