Notes

The A^vy allele arose spontaneously in the C3H/HeJ strain. Heterozygotes (A^iy/a) are sootier than A^y/a and are often indistinguishable from A/a. They do not have the mottling often observed in A^vy/a. Homozygotes are viable, as are A^vy/A^y and A^iy/A^vy (J:13441).
