• amphetamine-induced locomotor activity was significantly reduced in male mutant mice compared to wild-type controls
• while the locomotor activity rose during the first few minutes following the injection, it peaked quickly and declined much faster than controls

• a reduced ability of back-propagating action potentials to evoke dendritic calcium transients in core accumbens medium spiny neurons
• alterations of gene expression significantly shifted action potentials (APs) threshold in core accumbens medium spiny neurons; APs are noticeably more depolarized compared to controls
• a large reduction of the probability of core accumbens medium spiny neurons to induce spike-timing-dependent long-term depression (tLTD), but not spike-timing-dependent long-term potentiation (tLTP), in mutant mice
