N normal phenotype
reproductive system
N
• no changes in pubertal progression, testicular and ovarian maturation, or ovulatory dynamics are detected
• mean litter size is increased

nervous system
• pituitary explants show modestly higher levels of luteinizing hormone release in response to gonadotropin-releasing hormone
• pituitary explants from females fail to decrease in LH release in response to RFRP-3 unlike in wild-type controls
• increase in the number of Kiss1-expressing neurons in the arcuate nucleus

homeostasis/metabolism
• in adult males and females
• decrease in the stimulatory effect of neurokinin B in males
• luteinizing hormones rise more slowly after orchidectomy but reach levels similar to wild-type by day 40
• increase in the stimulatory effect of gonadotropin-releasing hormone in males
• after a 12h fast males do not show a drop in LH levels unlike in wild-type controls but after 24h fasting LH levels are similar to controls
• after 9 weeks on a high fat diet males do not show a decrease in LH levels unlike wild-type males
• orchidectomized males fail to decrease circulating levels of LH in response to 5nmol RFRP-3 unlike in wild-type controls
• elevated levels are detected in males but not females before and during puberty
• elevated levels in females in the first 48h after ovariectomy

growth/size/body
• males show greater weight loss during a 24h fast

endocrine/exocrine glands
• pituitary explants from females fail to decrease in LH release in response to RFRP-3 unlike in wild-type controls
• pituitary explants show modestly higher levels of luteinizing hormone release in response to gonadotropin-releasing hormone
