Impaired allergic skin inflammation and systemic response to epicutaneous sensitization in Il21rtm1Day/Il21rtm1Day mice

immune system
• the frequency of Th17 cells induced from nave T cells by Tgf-beta + IL-6 incubation is half that of controls (J:123352)
• IL-21 fails to differentiate nave T cells under Th2 polarizing conditions into IL-21 secreting effector T cells (J:136955)
• the fraction of CD4+CD44+IL-17+ T cells is severely reduced compared to controls
• levels of OVA-specific IgE are severely diminished compared to controls after immunization through the skin
• IgE levels are increased 3-fold
• IgG1 levels are decreased 3-fold (J:76043)
• mice fail to make OVA-specific IgG1 in response to immunization through the skin (J:144708)
