behavior/neurological
• show markedly decreased freezing behaviour in both context-dependent and tone-dependent fear learning
• time spent in a freezing position is about half that of controls for the context-depending test and only about 1/10th of controls for tone-dependent testing
• mice have increased escape latency throughout a 9 day training process in a Morris water maze
• mice do not show a preference for the target quadrant when the hidden platform is removed whereas the control mice spend significantly more time in the target quadrant
• mice show impairment of spatial working memory in a T-maze non-matching-to-place task with a third less correct guesses than controls after 2 days of training

nervous system
• the number of presynaptic terminals of functional synapses is significantly decreased in the CA1 striatum radiatum
• the density of dendritic spines along dentate gyrus granule cells is markedly decreased
• the overall level of acetylated lysine on histones is decreased in these neurons compared to controls
• the density of dendritic spines along individual dendrites of hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons is markedly decreased
• LTP induced by two trains of high frequency stimulation in CA1 neurons is impaired
