immune system
• IgG1 sera levels are elevated 2-4 fold in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• IgG2a sera levels are elevated 2-4 fold in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• IgG2b sera levels are elevated 2-4 fold in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• IgG3 sera levels are decreased in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• submandibular lymph node size increase with age until they are almost 3-fold heavier by 12-16 weeks of age
• this increase is due to opportunistic S. aureus infection, with lymph nodes shrinking after antibiotic treatment
• mice develop mucocutaneous abscesses around the nose and mouth that result from an opportunistic S. aureus infection
• mice develop mucocutaneous abscesses around the nose and mouth that result from an opportunistic S. aureus infection
• S. aureus is readily culturable from mucosal surfaces of the nose and mouth but is not culturable from controls
• mice have the same resistance to systemic infection of S. aureus as determined by survival curves and the amount of colony forming units in kidney homegenates after inoculation with S. aureus

craniofacial
• mice develop mucocutaneous abscesses around the nose and mouth that result from an opportunistic S. aureus infection

digestive/alimentary system
• mice develop mucocutaneous abscesses around the nose and mouth that result from an opportunistic S. aureus infection

respiratory system
• mice develop mucocutaneous abscesses around the nose and mouth that result from an opportunistic S. aureus infection

hematopoietic system
• IgG1 sera levels are elevated 2-4 fold in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• IgG2a sera levels are elevated 2-4 fold in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• IgG2b sera levels are elevated 2-4 fold in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls
• IgG3 sera levels are decreased in the sera of 8-10 week old mice compared to controls

growth/size/body
• mice develop mucocutaneous abscesses around the nose and mouth that result from an opportunistic S. aureus infection
