• Background Sensitivity: no mice survive until P20 unlike on a mixed 129 C57BL/6 MF1 background
• fewer than expected mice are present at E11.5 and fewer mice than expected mice develop to term

embryo
• at E13.5, embryos are slightly reduced in size compared to controls
• at E13.5, embryos are slightly reduced in weight compared to controls
• at E13.5, placentas are structurally abnormal
• however, the labyrinthine trophoblast cells and the network of embryonic vessels and maternal sinuses appear normal
• at E13.5, the maternal deciduas separates from fetal components more easily than in wild-type mice
• the spongiotrphoblast layer is reduced in size compared to in wild-type mice

respiratory system
• mice display undifferentiated epithelium in the respiratory bronchioles
• mice display undifferentiated epithelium in the alveoli
• the number of cells in the alveolar septum is increased compared to in wild-type mice

vision/eye
• at birth, the cornea is thin and fibrotic
• at E16.5, eyes are open and by birth eyelids have failed to grow and fused

growth/size/body
• at E13.5, embryos are slightly reduced in size compared to controls
• at E13.5, embryos are slightly reduced in weight compared to controls

reproductive system
• at E13.5, the maternal deciduas separates from fetal components more easily than in wild-type mice

integument
• at birth some hair follicles appear less differentiated
• however, the number of hair follicles and organization of the dermal layer are similar to in wild-type mice
• at birth, whiskers are absent or only rudimentary stubs are present
• at E18.5, epidermal layers are not distinct
• at E18.5, the stratum corneum lacks keratinization
• at E18.5
