mortality/aging
• 90% of mice die 12 to 19 days following treatment with 4Gy
• 100% of mice die 3 to 5 days following treatment with 8Gy

cellular
• 2 days following treatment with 8Gy, mice exhibit gastrointestinal abnormalities including inflammation not observed in controls
• 3 days following treatment with 8Gy, mice exhibit shortened, blunted and fused villi, hyperplastic crypts, diffuse goblet cell depletion in the colon, ablation of some crypts in the colon, moderate to marked hyperplasia of remaining crypts and pilling up and karyomegaly of the surface epithelium in the colon
• following treatment with 10Gy, apoptosis in the thymus is increased to a greater extent than in controls

immune system
• thymuses exhibit higher amounts of apoptosis prior to and following radiation treatment

hematopoietic system
• thymuses exhibit higher amounts of apoptosis prior to and following radiation treatment

homeostasis/metabolism
• 2 days following treatment with 8Gy, mice exhibit gastrointestinal abnormalities including inflammation not observed in controls

endocrine/exocrine glands
• thymuses exhibit higher amounts of apoptosis prior to and following radiation treatment
