• no homozygous mutants are born; between E5.5 and E7.5, normal-appearing embryos and empty deciduae are found, suggesting early post-implantation homozygous lethality

• inner cell mass cells of homozygous blastocysts often do not hatch after 4 days and degenerate soon afterwards

nervous system
• prepulse inhibition response is abnormal in heterozygous mice; percent inhibition is significantly higher than in controls
• Background Sensitivity: levels of prepulse inhibition are lower at the 2 highest prepulse sound levels than on inbred 129S6/SvEvTac background

behavior/neurological

• open field behaviors, acoustic startle responses, contextual and cued fear responses are similar in mutants and wild-type
• male mice perform more poorly compared than wild-type mice in the rotarod test
