• in distal jejunal sections the numbers of intermediate and granule goblet cells are increased
• however, mice do not develop intestinal tumors

• 90 - 95% reduction in the number of Paneth cells at P28 and the area normally occupied by mature Paneth cells is partially filled with crypt base columnar cells as well as intermediate cells
