cardiovascular system
N
• cardiac morphology and function are not different from controls
• 4 weeks after thoracic transverse aortic constriction fractional shortening, left ventricular end diastolic internal dimension, and lung weight are not significantly different from sham operated controls unlike in wild type mice
• decrease in the number of apoptotic cells detected at 1 and 4 weeks after thoracic transverse aortic constriction compared to wild-type controls
• however, 1 week after thoracic transverse aortic constriction heart weight is increased similar to what is seen in wild-type controls and the degree of fibrosis is similar in both mutant and wild-type mice
• following myocardial infarction increases in left ventricular end diastolic and end systolic internal dimensions are decreased compared to wild-type controls
• following myocardial infarction the decrease in fractional shortening and replacement fibrosis are less than that in wild-type controls
• decrease in the number of apoptotic cells detected at 1 and 4 weeks after induced infarction compared to wild-type controls

• primary keratinocytes are more resistant to DMBA induced apoptosis compared to wild-type cells
• hyperplasia following TPA exposure is milder than in wild type controls
