mortality/aging
• most embryos die by E15.5; no viable embryos found aby E18.5

embryo
• embryos are 50% smaller than littermates

growth/size/body
• embryos are 50% smaller than littermates

hematopoietic system
• defect in definitive but not primitive erythropoiesis
• thymocytes are blocked in the CD4-/ CD8- stage; CD25+/ CD44- thymocytes were detected; cells can be induced to develop into CD4+/ CD8+ cells by treatment with anti-CD3epsilon antibodies
• increasing severity with age
• fewer nonnucleated erythrocytes
• apparent at E14.5
• increased number of nucleated erythroblasts

homeostasis/metabolism
• seen in approximately 50% of embryos; progressive with age

immune system
• thymocytes are blocked in the CD4-/ CD8- stage; CD25+/ CD44- thymocytes were detected; cells can be induced to develop into CD4+/ CD8+ cells by treatment with anti-CD3epsilon antibodies

liver/biliary system
• fetal liver cells have a reduced ability to form BFU-E colonies in culture
• the liver is half the size of wild-type

nervous system
• reduced overall size of the thalamus; small thalamic nuclei were noted including the lateral geniculate nuclei

integument
• noted in embryos from E13.5; probably due to anemia

endocrine/exocrine glands
