mortality/aging
• mice that are born develop bleeding problems and die either within a few hours of birth or within 2 days of birth
• Background Sensitivity: mice on a background enriched for Black Swiss survive until days 5 or 7
• fewer than expected mice are alive at E10.5 through E11.5

digestive/alimentary system

embryo
• in some mice at E10.5
• some embryos at E10.5
• at E10.5, the degree of necrosis corresponds to severity of hemorrhaging
• at E9.5 to E12.5, some mice exhibit yolk sac vessels that are largely empty of blood and blood pools within the yolk sac cavity
• however, yolk sac blood vessels and membranes form normally
• in some mice between E9.5 and E12.5

cardiovascular system
• in some mice between E9.5 and E11.5
• neonates exhibit massive bleeding into the abdominal cavity, as well as bleeding into the intestinal lumen
• at E10.5, mice exhibit bleeding in the yolk sac cavity, exocoelomic cavity and pericardial sac unlike wild-type mice

homeostasis/metabolism
• blood from E18.5 mice fails to clot
• however, addition of thrombin restores clotting

growth/size/body
• some embryos at E10.5

integument
• neonates exhibit purpura around the head, back, abdomen, and around joints
