liver/biliary system
• at E11.5, a large increase in apoptotic liver cells is observed
• some pups recovered between E11.5 and E12.5 exhibit defects in liver architecture
• normal sized livers have severe tissue loss accompanied by expansion of sinuses
• a moderate decrease in proliferating liver cells and a large increase in apoptotic liver cells are observed even prior to reduction in liver size
• fewer erythropoeitic (Ter119+) cells are found due to increased apoptosis
• some pups recovered between E11.5 and E12.5 exhibit liver hypoplasia
