homeostasis/metabolism
• at days 3, 5, and 7, mice exhibit delayed wound closure with decreased vascular density at the wound compared with similarly treated wild-type mice
• during wound healing, mice exhibit reduced wound contraction and myofibroblast formation compared with similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, vascular density at the wound recovers by day 14

cellular
• in unstimulated or TGF-beta1-stimulated dermal fibroblasts compared with similarly treated wild-type fibroblasts

cardiovascular system
• vascular density is decreased at healing wounds compared to in similarly treated wild-type mice

skeleton
• in a stabilized tibia fracture, bony bridge formation fails to occur by post-fracture week (PFW) 3 unlike in control mice despite the progress of calcification
• calcified areas and bone mineral content (BMC) is reduced during the modeling phase (PFW2 to 3)
• however, there is no difference in calcified area and BMC in the remodeling stage (PFW4 to 10)
• at the fracture site, mice have a greater cartilage area to total callus area, and less bone area to total callus area ratio at PFW2 to 3 than controls
• the fracture site contains more hypertrophic chondrocytes (COL10A1+) than controls
• the fracture site had minimal cartilaginous breaks associated with capillary invasion and the chondroclasts are not attached to the cartilage matrix
• when chondrocytes are cultured in 3D collagen gel pellets, contraction of the gel and cartilage matrix synthesis is less on day 7 than in wild-type

cardiovascular system
• after 1 week of chondrocytes being co-cultured with HUVEC, there is limited vascular sprouting as compared to wild-type
