neoplasm
• 41% of mice develop hepatocellular carcinomas tumors when control mice have no tumors
• some hepatic tumors observed form in more than one lobe
• tumor incidence increases with age starting at 8 months and reach 66% incidence by 20 to 24 months of age
• tumors are multifocal, some are red and black in color indicating hemorrhaging, some display fibrosis, some are yellow in color indicating the presence of fat deposits, contain macrovesicular fat, and form regeneration nodules
• males exhibit a higher incidence of tumors than females
• however, no preneoplastic increase in proliferation is observed

homeostasis/metabolism
• total cholesterol levels are elevated 30% to 60% relative to controls
• the number of VLDL particles is increased
• plasma triglyceride levels are 10- to 30-fold higher than in control mice

liver/biliary system
