description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Recombinase)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Slc17a8-icre)1Edw expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe C57BL/6 mouse bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) RP24-88H21, containing only the Slc17a8 locus, was modified by targeting a codon optimized cre recombinase (icre), followed by an SV40 polyA signal, into the ATG start site of theSlc17a8 locus. The modified BAC was microinjected into fertilized FVB/N oocytes and transgenic founders were obtained and crossed to mice expressing a cre-dependent reporter. Activity of icre is seen in interneurons in the hippocampus, cortex, striatum, and cerebellum, with some expression seen in amacrine cells of the inner retina. Two of four founder lines expressed cre, and one line was analyzed further. (J:182798)
