Mutation details: 1.3 kb of truncated human FGFR2-IIIb cDNA deleted for kinase domains 1 and 2 was used as the transgene. Deletion of the kinase domains results in a dominant negative protein which blocks FGF receptor signaling. The transgene is expressed in developing airway epithelium under the direction of the human SFTPC promoter. Expression of the transgene was detected in the distal epithelial cells of the lung via in situ hybridization analysis.
