Name: integrin alpha 8; targeted mutation 1, Louis F Reichardt
MGI ID: MGI:2181699
Synonyms: alpha8-
Gene: Itga8  Location: Chr2:12106632-12301922 bp, - strand  Genetic Position: Chr2, 9.12 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:38838
Parent Cell Line:  JM-1 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129X1/SvJ
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutation:    Insertion
Mutation detailsThe exon encoding amino acids 362-424 was disrupted by the insertion of a neomycin selection cassette. Western blot analysis of kidney tissue, using an antibody raised against the extracellular domain, showed an absence of encoded protein in homozygous mutant mice. The protein was also shown to be absent in lung tissue via immunohistochemical analysis. (J:38838)
