Name: integrin beta 1 (fibronectin receptor beta); targeted mutation 1, Arnoud Sonnenberg
MGI ID: MGI:2154543
Synonyms: beta1D ko
Gene: Itgb1  Location: Chr8:128685654-128733200 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr8, 76.09 cM, cytoband E2
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:47279
Parent Cell Line:  E14 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129P2/OlaHsd
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsA loxP-flanked neomycin resistance cassette replaced exon D, which encodes sequences for the beta1D alternative isoform. The neomycin cassette was deleted by Cre-mediated recombination in ES cells prior to blastocyst injection, leaving a single loxP site instead of exon D. Northern blot analysis revealed that no beta1D specific transcript was present, but transcripts of other splice variants of the gene were not afftected by this mutation. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of the beta1D specific protein. (J:47279)
