Reference: J:80020 Marcil A, et al., Pitx1 and Pitx2 are required for development of hindlimb buds. Development. 2003 Jan;130(1):45-55
Assay type: RNA in situ
MGI Accession ID: MGI:5298006
Gene symbol: Hoxc11
Gene name: homeobox C11
Probe: Hoxc11 probe4
Probe preparation: Antisense labelled with digoxigenin RNA
Results
Specimen 5A left: embryonic day 11.5 (more )
Note: This specimen is at the 46-somite stage.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: hindlimb bud mesenchyme Strong Regionally restricted 5A left The anterior border of expression is revealed at the junction between somites 26 and 27, which lies in the middle of the developing limb buds. This results in a strong band of expression in the posterior third of the bud.

Specimen 5A middle: embryonic day 11.5; Pitx1tm1Jdr/Pitx1tm1Jdr (more )
Note: This specimen is at the 46-somite stage.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: hindlimb bud mesenchyme Present Regionally restricted 5A middle The anterior border of expression relative to somite 27 is the same as is wild type, but the narrower bud in the mutant appears to result in loss of anterior bud mesenchyme so that the band of expression now accounts for half of the bud mesenchyme.

Specimen 5A right: embryonic day 11.5; Pitx1tm1Jdr/Pitx1tm1Jdr, Pitx2tm2Sac/Pitx2+ (more )
Note: This specimen is at the 44-somite stage.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS18: hindlimb bud mesenchyme Present Regionally restricted 5A right The anterior border of expression relative to somite 27 is the same as is wild type, but the narrower bud in the mutant appears to result in loss of anterior bud mesenchyme so that the band of expression now accounts for half of the bud mesenchyme.
