description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(IgkH220-17)1Mwg expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe transgene comprises the rearranged immunoglobulin kappa light chain (Igk) gene, combining an Igk-V8 and the Igk-J5 segment, of the hybridoma cell line H220-17. It encodes the light chain of most primary antibodies generated in BALB/c mice against the antigenic site, Sb, of the hemagglutinin (HA) of influenza virus A/PR/8/34 (PR8), for which H220-17 is specific. Transgene derived transcripts are detected by northern blot analysis in spleen, but not in liver, and none were detected by dot blot analysis in any non-lymphoid tissue tested. (J:121575)

Notes
Three transgenic mouse lines, designated L, Ga and Gb, were derived from two founder animals, one having two integrations (J:121575). The line(s) employed in later studies are not specified.

In combination with the immunoglobulin heavy chain gene encoded by Tg(Igh3H9)41Mwg, the light chain produced from this transgene forms an antibody with specificity for single stranded (ss) DNA (J:119625).
