Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Gene trapped (Null/knockout, Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion of gene trap vector     Vector: ROSABetageo*

Mutation detailsA gene trap vector inserted between the exons that encode the spectrin repeat 12 of the protein. Northern blot analysis demonstrated that a fusion transcript was expressed that consisted of the gene sequences and the beta-galactosidase gene of the vector. Western blot analysis on brain lysates of homozygous mice demonstrated that no detectable full length protein was made from this allele. (J:77228)

Notes
This mutation was identified in a gene-trap screen employing a modification of the Betageo gene trap vector, originally called Gt(ROSABgeo*), encoding aspartic acid at amino acid position 182 (Komada et al. 2000).
