Mutation details: Exons 2 through 7 were flanked by single loxP sites in intron 1 and intron 8. The construct included a promoterless LacZ reporter gene introduced after the downstream loxP site, enabling the detection of cre mediated recombination by lacZ expression. Northern blot analysis demonstrated that expression of the floxed allele was unaffected by the presence of the loxP sites.
