Assay type: RNA in situ
MGI Accession ID: MGI:1340494
Gene symbol: Bmp2
Gene name: bone morphogenetic protein 2
Probe: BMP2 cDNA
Probe preparation: RNA
Results
Specimen 1C: embryonic day 11.0 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS18: 1st branchial arch mandibular component Weak Regionally restricted 1C Bmp2 is expressed at the mesial tip of the jaw in a short, thin strip of epithelial cells that extends distally. In all cases, expression was symmetrical on either side of the median sulcus.
TS18: tongue Absent 1C

Specimen 1I: embryonic day 11.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: mandible primordium Strong Regionally restricted 1I The midline expression extends further distally. Expression is upregulated relative to E11.0. Highest levels of expression are mesially and distally with an apparent downregulation in between.
TS19: tongue Absent 1I

Specimen 1O: embryonic day 12.0 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS20: mandible primordium Present Regionally restricted 1O Expression is completely downregulated in the diastema. Expression occurs at the midline in the incisor domains and further distally in the molar primordia. Bmp2 is also expressed in the most distal mesenchyme of the outgrowing jaw.
TS20: tongue Absent 1O

Specimen 1U: embryonic day 12.0 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS20: mandible primordium Strong Regionally restricted 1U Bmp2 is expressed at the tip of the tooth epithelium.
