Recombinase Activity Detail
Allele Information
Allele:
Mapttm2(cre)Aha
microtubule-associated protein tau; targeted mutation 2, Akihiro Harada
Driver: Mapt
Type: Targeted (Recombinase)
Synonym: tau-Cre
Molecular description: A cre gene with a nuclear localization signal followed by an frt-flanked neo cassette was inserted immediately after the start methionine. Cre function is dectected in neurons of almost all areas of the brain with only granule cells in the caudal part of the cerebellum not exhbiting cre function. Other organs such as the liver, kidney and intestine do not exhibit cre function.
