This locus controls a minor cell-surface antigen on thymocytes, brain, bone marrow and spleen. The b allele (antigen presence) occurs in A/J, C57BL/6 and DBA/2 strains; the a allele (antigen absence) in 129/J, C57L, C57BR/cd, NZB, SWR and SJL strains. Heterozygotes have intermediate phenotype.
