The level of expression of glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase 1 in cerebellum of BALB/c mice is 2.5 times that of C57BL/6. This difference is controlled by two unlinked loci, Gdcr1 and Gdcr2. BALB/c carries alleles that cause enhancement of expression ofGPD1 compared to C57BL/6 and M.m. castaneus.
