This locus controls a serologically detected antigen on erythrocytes. The a allele determines antigen Ea8.1 in strains A, C57BL/10, C3H/He, NZB, some wild mice and Mus poschiavinus. The b allele determines absence of antigen in BALB/c, DBA/2, 129 and LP.
