Mutation details: The rat promoter drives the expression of the mouse gene in lung epithelium. The gene is constructed by fusing 170 bp 5' cDNA sequence to the remainder of the gene's genomic sequence (including ~1.2 kb 3' flanking sequence). Of the three founder lines - NJ.1659, NJ.1723, NJ.1726 - the latter was found to have the highest copy number and expression and severest pathology and was chosen for further study.
