  Analysis of mice derived from the EUCIB BSS [(C57BL/6J x SPR or SEG/Pas)F1 x SPR or SEG/Pas] or EUCIB BSB [(C57BL/6J x SPR or SEG/Pas)F1 x C57BL/6J] and/or NOD x B10-H2^g7 backcrosses indicated that D3Nds55 mapped 1.4 cM distal of D3Mit240 and 0.2 cM proximal of D3Nds36, furthermore D3Nds40, D3Nds42 and D3Nds43 mapped with D3Nds36, D3Nds6, and D3Nds34. In a F2 cross between NOD and NOD.B6 in which 944 progeny were analyzed the following order was obtained. D3Nds36 - 0.07 cM - D3Nds6 - 0.0 cM - D3Nds34 -0.08 cM - D3Nds40 - 0.08 cM - D3Nds43 0.0 cM - D3Nds42 - 1 cM - D3Mit295. In 508 mice from the NOD x B10-H2^g7 backcross D3Mit240 mapped with D3Mit167 and 1.6 cM proximal of D3Nds36. These loci mapped in the crosses mentioned above are contained within the Idd3 region of mouse Chromosome 3. D3Nds6 is contained within Il2.
