Mitf MitfMi-wh visible phenotype
Itpr1 Southern analysis Itpr1 cDNA1
Notes
  • Reference
The authors provide data showing that the Opt phenotype is the result of a deletion in Itpr1.
  • Experiment
The opt mutation is maintained in a repulsion intercross with MitfMi-wh. Heterozygous opt mice can be identified by coat color. Southern hybridization using an Itpr1 molecular probe was informative in showing that opt heterozygotes were also heterozygous at the Itpr1 locus. The hybridization results suggest that Iptr1 and opt cosegregate and are thus closely linked on mouse Chromosome 6.
