    Direct sequencing of the Scn1b coding region within C57BL/6J, C3HeB/FeJ, 129/SvJ, BALB/c, DBA/2J and Spnb4qv-J/Spnb4qv-J mice identified single base pair polymorphism between these strains. The derivation of the Spnb4qv-J phenotype animals was considered, and enabled the authors to show that the DBA/2J allele of Scn1b segregated on mouse Chromosome 7 with the Spnb4qv-J/Spnb4qv-J (Hope Sweet, The Jackson Laboratory, personal communication). The authors indicated, however, that the Scn1b protein was not the cause of the qv-J effect in mice.
