Notes
  • Experiment
Southern blot analysis with a probe specific for the Ly49 complex demonstrated that the mouse strains tested exhibit a complex pattern of restriction fragments. Authors report that the resulting complex pattern RFLP data is due to genes inherited in an autosomal fashion. Analysis using recombinant inbred strains (BXH, AKXL, and BXD) showed that all RI strains displayed a RFLP of one or the other progenitor strain, and that in no instance was the RFLP pattern more complex or unique then another. Authors state that these data are most consistent with the possibility that the series of bands that cross hybridize with the probe are all on one tightly linked autosomal segment because recombination within the gene family was not observed. This data indicates that the members of Klra complex map to mouse Chromosome 6.
