Notes
  • Experiment
An Hya epitope H-YDb is coded for by Uty. PCR analysis using primers designed from an exon within Uty indicated that the predicted PCR product of 170 bp observed in XY mice and XXSxra mice was absent in XX female and XXSxrb mice showing that Uty is located within a small region deleted in transposition Tp(Y)1Ct. These data were confirmed using Southern analysis of male and female DNA in which a Y specific band present in males is absent in females. Consistent with the results obtained in PCR analysis the Y specific band was also absent in XXSxrb mice.
