  • Experiment
    173 cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL) which selectively express H-Y antigens were employed in the selection of somatic cells which carry deletions within the region of the Hya locus on the mouse Y Chromosome. These somatic cells were identified to facilitatemapping of loci within the Sxra region of the mouse Y-Chromosome. All of the H-Y deletions expressed Amel. Most of the lines were negative for Sry, Zfy1, Zfy2, Bkm1 and Mov15, therefore the variant deletion mutants expressing these loci were an asset in mapping the region. The following order was determined from the deletion mapping: Amelx - Mov15 - Ube1y1-rs1 - DYBish9 - Sry - DYBish2 - DYBish3 - DYBish4 - DYBish20 - Ube1y1-rs2 - DYBish10 - DYBish14 - DYBish17 - Ube1y1-rs3 - DYBish11 - DYBish15 - Zfy2- DYBish21 - DYBish13 - DYBish16 - Ube1y1 - Zfy1 - Ube1y1-rs4 - DYBish24. Using these cells the authors also show that the mouse Hya locus which is located within the Sxrb deletion can be separated in 4 H-Y coding loci namely, Hyab, Hydb, Hykk1 anf Hydlk. In addition to the 4 Hya region loci a fourth locus Hykk2 is indicated as mapping proximal to Sxrb.
