  The pcd mutant phenotype arose spontaneously on the C57BR/cdJ strain and has been maintained at The Jackson Laboratory in two different strains: C57BL/6J-pcd, which has been backcrossed onto C57BL/6J for 20 generations; and B6C3Fe-a/a-pcd, which has beenmaintained through 20 generations of matings to an F1 hybrid. (C57BL/6J x C3HeB/FeJ)F1. Testing of MIT markers polymorphic between C57BL/6J, C57BR/cdJ, C3HeB/FeJ, C57BL/6J-pcd, B6C3Fe-a/a-pcd placed pcd between D13Mit139 and D13Mit67 on mouse Chromosome 13: This analysis also mapped the following order of loci on mouse Chromosome 13: D13Mit180 - 1.1 cM - D13Mit91 - 1.1 cM - D13Mit94 - 1.1 cM - D13Mit139 - 1.2 cM - pcd - D13Mit140 - 2.2 cM - D13Mit13 - 1.1 cM - D13Mit223 - 1.1 cM - D13Mit67.
