Notes
  • Reference
    Authors use W19H, D4S76 and D5Sc25 for KitW-19H, D5H4S76, and D5Mnl25.
  • Experiment
Authors tested several W-region congenic mouse lines for the occurrence of recombination between D5Mnl25 and KitW-19H during transfer of the selected W mutation into a C57BL/6J or C3H/HeJ background. Congenic lines B6.C3H-KitW-44 and B6.C3H-KitW-39, both of which have gone through 40 to 50 generations of backcrossing, retain the donor alleles at the D5Mnl25 locus, indicating that D5Mnl25 maps within 1 cM of the KitW locus. This assertion was further validated by the finding that the B6.C3H-rs line, produced by 30 generations of backcrossing , also retains the donor alleles at the D5Mnl25 locus.
