• Experiment
  Genetic mapping based on 4,658 meioses from intercrosses or backcrosses of C57BL/6J tub/tub mice with strains CAST/EiJ, NOD, NOD-H2K, AKR/J or A/J were used to indicate that tub and rd5 cosegregated, suggesting that these phenotypes result from the same mutation. The maximum genetic distance between tub and rd5 was estimated to be 0.13 +/- 0.09 cM based on 6 recombinants in 4,658. This region is flanked proximally by D7Pjn11 and D7Pjn12 and distally by D7Mit219 and D7Pjn24. The tub/rd5 mutations are coded for at the Tub locus.
