  A total of 105 male and 70 female backcross progeny resulting from a C3H/An (female) x (Swiss Webster x C3H/An)F1 (male) backcross were genotyped by RFLP (TaqI) analysis using Sts cDNA3. All backcross males Sts(-) were homozygous for the 24kb C3H/An allele indicating paternal X-Y recombination. All backcross Sts(+) females were heterozygous for Sts (including the 27kb Swiss Webster band) as a consequence of paternal X-Y crossovers proximal to Sts. This data maps Sts to the distal portion of mouse Chromosome X and Y.
