  Two loci, Zfy1 and Zfy2, were identified on the mouse Y Chromosome based on hybridization of probe mYfin to HindIII genomic bands of 2.0 and 7.2kb respectively. The 2.0kb and the 7.2kb fragments were present in XXSxr males indicating a close linkage of these loci in the Sxr region of the Y Chromosome. XXSxr¹ mice carry a deletion in the X Chromosome that includes the Hya locus. Since both XXSxr¹ and XXSxr mice have testes and the 2.0kb (Zfy1) fragment only hybridized to XXSxr¹, Zfy1 is linked to testis determination (Tdy) and the Sxr¹ deletion includes Zfy2.
