Notes
  • Experiment
The physical distance between Mash2, Ins2, Igf2 and H19 on distal mouse Chromosome 7 was determined on pulse field gels. All four genes hybridized to the same 600kb NruI and 350kb BsshII fragment. Ascl2 and Ins2 recognized the same 450kb EagI fragment and Igf2 and H19 recognized a different and smaller 350kb EagI fragment. These two EagI fragments were separated by an EagI site between Ins2 and Igf2. Collectively the suggested gene order was determined as Ascl2 - Ins2 - Igf2 - H19. Futhermore Ascl2 did not hybridize with any YACs that carried both Ins2 and Igf2 genes, indicating that Ascl2 is not between but is proximal to Ins2 and Igf2.
