  Twenty-nine somatic cell hybrids were made from fusions of Hprt-deficient Chinese hamster cells and mouse spleen cells homozygous for T(2;16)28H. After prolonged growth in HAT medium two clones were determined by karyotype analysis to retain translocatedChromosome 16² but not 2¹⁶; and one clone retained 2¹⁶ but not 16². Sod1 was present in the clone retaining 2¹⁶, and not 16². Translocated Chromosome 2¹⁶ retains the distal fifth of Chromosome 16; and thus Sod1 can be mapped to band C3-C4 onChromosome 16.
