For QTL mapping (NZO females X C57BL/6J males) F1s were mated to produce a total of 649 F2 mice (318 females, 331 males). At 22 wk of age, body fat was higher in both male and female NZO by a factor of 10 then that observed in C57BL/6J mice. Blood glucose levels were also higher in NZO than in C57BL/6J. The authors show the mapping of Nobq3 to mouse Chromosome 1 in association with two peaks one at rs3691057 (125.3 Mbp) and another at rs3678478 (177.6 Mbp). Both these peaks delineated the same QTL between 49.5 and 75.3 cMs. This region was later introgressed into a C57BL/6J background defined by a 90 Mbp fragment between D1Mit468 and D1Mit209.
