Notes
  • Experiment
High alcohol preferring mice (HAP) and low alcohol preferring mice (LAP) were utilized in a genome wide scan using SNPs to identify QTL that influence alcohol preference. A total of 989 (HAP1 x LAP1) F2 mice were tested.

Significant QTL were found in mouse Chromosomes 1 (2 loci), 3, 5 and 9.

The chromosome 9 mapping reaffirmed the location mapped as Alpq1 by Bice in 2006. J:110926 Behav Genet 2006 Mar;36(2):248-60. Epub 2006 Feb 15.

Alpq4 mapped in chromosome 1 with rs13475706 at 1.0 cM and Alpq5 also mapped in chromosome 1 with rs13476012 at 56 cM.

The chromosome 3 QTL Alpq6 mapped with rs13477439 at 74 cM. The chromosome 5 QTL Alpq7 mapped with rs8239888 at 83 cM.

A second locus in chromosome 9 and identified by MGI as Alpq8 mapped with rs13480399 at 75 cM, this locus was more distal then the locus mapped by Bice in 2006.
