A congenic strain was developed using the previously mapped Pbwg1 locus. Pbwg1 was mapped to C57BL/6J to produce congenic B6.Cg-Pbwg1. For QTL analysis B6.Cg-Pbwg1 males were intercrossed to C57BL/6J producing a testing group of 269 F2 mice (143 males and 126 females).

A significant QTL was mapped to mouse Chromosome 2 that affected body weight at age 6 and age 10.
The 6 week peak was observed between D2Mit270 (53 Mb) and D2Mit38(74 Mb) with 1.5 LOD interval of 14.1 cM associated with peak marker D2Mit205 (LOD 3.1)
The 10 week peak was observed between D2Mit33(30 Mb) and D2Mit38(74 Mb) also associated with D2Mit205 with a 1.5 LOD interval of 28.0.
A genetic map position of 36.9 cM was suggested for the 6 week peak where as the 10-week peak wassuggested as 36.1 cM.
The QTL representing both of these regions is named Pbwg1.10
