Notes
  • Experiment
Using the males of genotype X/YSxra and XSxra/O from the cross In(X)1H x XSxra/YSxra and the males of genotype XSxra/Y *X from the cross T(X;16)/XSxra x In(X)1HY/*. the authors were able to conclude there is a gene on the Y Chromosome thatis essential for normal sperm development. These results show there are 2 functional regions on the Y Chromosome, the X pairing and exchange (pseudoautosomal ) region and a Y-specific region necessary for normal sperm development (Smy).
