Notes
  • Experiment
Analysis of variance was used to indicate a significant association of litter size (p = .058) and body weight variation (p = .019) with the D10Mit12 locus, and of body variation (p = .009) with D10Mit14. Data were obtained from backcross mice derived from (Quackenbush-Swiss (QS) x C57BL/6J)F1 x C57BL/6J matings. All types of reciprocal crosses were made in which the C57BL/6J strain contributed 3/4 of the gene pool. The D10Mit12 and D10Mit14 loci were selected for analysis because of their proximity to Igf1. Igf1 is a candidate gene for a growth and litter size quantitative trait locus( QTL). Linkage distance between D10Mit12 and D10Mit14 on Chromosome 10 was estimated at 27.5 cM.
