Dynlt1 was mapped to the t-complex region of Chromosome 17 distal to D17Leh48 and proximal to Tcp1 as follows. Somatic cell hybrid R-41, a Chinese hamster x C3H mouse hybrid carrying only mouse Chromosomes 17 and 18 was used to localize Dynlt1 to one of these chromosomes. Dynlt1 was mapped to the t-complex using RFLPs between C3H-+/+, C3H-+/tw5, C3H-+/tw32, and C3H-+/T tsb tf. Seven independent proximal partial haplotype DNAs were shown to carry only the t copies of Dynlt1 thus mapping Dynlt1 to the proximal region of the mutant t-complex. Using the unequal recombinants tae5, tw128, and tw111, which all contain both wild-type and t-specific copies of Tcp1, Dynlt1 was shown to map proximal to Tcp1 in wild-type chromosomes. Using deletion mapping it was shown that wild-type Dynlt1 is present in the Thp chromosome and deleted in the TOR chromosome localizing Dynlt1 distal to D17Leh48.
